2021 Western Amateur – Qualifier Information

QUALIFIER SITE – The Glen Club – 2901 West Lake Ave., Glenview, IL
FORMAT – 18-Hole Stroke Play
FIELD SIZE – 72 Players
STARTING TIMES – 12:40 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. (#1 & #10 tees)
QUALIFYING SPOTS – 7 qualifying spots will be awarded into the Western Amateur Championship. After the qualifier is completed, participants who fail to qualify will be placed on an alternate list in the order of score. In the case of a tie in score, a participants position on the alternate list will be determined by the order of finish.
TIES – Ties for qualifying spots will be broken by a sudden death playoff immediately following completion of play. Playoff holes will be determined by the Tournament Committee.
ENTRY FEE – $150
ENTRY & ACCEPTANCE PROCESS – To be eligible to sign-up for the Western Amateur qualifier, you must first formally submit your application for the Western Amateur Championship at www.thewesternamateur.com. After the Western Amateur field is set on July 2, 2021, non-exempt players and those who are not awarded a D-1 Special Consideration exemption will receive a link via email to sign-up for the qualifier. Spots in the qualifier will be awarded on a first come, first serve sign-up basis and the deadline to register is July 18, 2021. A wait list will be established after reaching 72 participants.
CANCELLATION POLICY – If an entrant who has registered for the qualifier withdraws before 5 p.m. (CDT) on July 18, 2021, the entry fee will automatically be refunded. If an entrant withdraws for any reason after 5 p.m. (CDT) on July 18, 2021, no refunds will be given.
SUCCESSFUL QUALIFIERS – Those who qualify will be required to pay the $300 tournament entry fee to confirm their spot in the field. The link to pay the full tournament entry fee will be sent via email.
PRACTICE ROUNDS – Participants may book practice rounds by calling the golf shop at (847) 832-6450. Monday – Thursday only. Practice round fees will range from $90 - $125 depending on start time.
TRANSPORTATION – Players must not use any form of transportation during their round unless approved by the committee.
CADDIES – Players shall always walk during the stipulated round. A player is not required to employ a caddie for any stage of the championship. A player may carry his bag, provide his own non-motorized pushcart, or bring a personal caddie. A limited number of club caddies will be available, please call the golf shop at (847) 832-6450 to make arrangements.
PRACTICE FACILITIES – Complimentary range balls will be provided.
FOOD & BEVERAGE – Food and beverages will be available for purchase in the grill room (inside the clubhouse) and at the halfway house (on-course).
STARTING TIMES – Pairings and starting times will be posted on the online player portal on Friday, July 23rd
RULES – The Rules of Golf as approved by the USGA and The R&A, as modified by local rules established by the WGA, govern play. The WGA tournament committee reserves the right to alter any of the conditions and schedules herein. Changes in tournament format caused by force majeure shall be within the sole discretion of the WGA officials. The decisions of the WGA tournament committee in any matter shall be final.
DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICES – Distance measuring devices may be used for the purpose of obtaining yardages only.
DRESS CODE – Players and caddies may wear Golf/Bermuda style shorts or pants during the qualifier. Collared shirts must be worn during all phases of the tournament. Players in violation of the dress code will not be permitted to start the competition. A violation of the dress code by a player during the stipulated round must be rectified without undue delay or the player will not be allowed to continue play. Proper dress code is required at all times while at the host facility, including in the clubhouse and at all practice facilities before and after play.
CONDUCT CODE – The following actions by players or caddies will be considered violations of the Conduct Code: any abusive language, club throwing, cheating, disrespect of volunteers or officials, host families, abuse of the course, leaving the course during your competitive round without permission from a WGA official, any use of or association with drugs or alcohol, not adhering to the dress code during any portion of the tournament, any vandalism at a host hotel, and/or any other conduct not becoming of a Western Amateur contestant. The penalties for Conduct Code violations, based on the severity of misconduct, may be any or all of the following: a warning, disqualification of the player from the tournament, suspension of the player indefinitely from WGA Championships.
